We are proud of our reputation in the garden design industry for producing some of the country’s most
talented garden designers from our flagship garden design diploma course which has run for over 25
years. When a RHS Chelsea multi gold medal winning designer wanted a new member for his team
recently - he rang us, and one of our graduates became the third member of his team to have been
trained by us. This is testament to the regard in which our graduates are held.
Rob Whitehead, the School’s Principal, is a leading, award-winning garden designer. Through his design
consultancy he undertakes a wide variety of garden design work from small urban gardens to large scale
multi discipline projects for both private and corporate clients. His consultancy concentrates on projects
in the UK, France and Italy.
Rob is a gifted, inspirational and natural teacher, who enjoys passing on his skills and experience. He is at
the very forefront of garden design education; he is a member of the Society of Garden Designer’s
Colleges & Students Committee and has also been appointed to lecture for the Society, running courses
for practising designers working towards registered member status. He is therefore well aware of the
failings of many courses - he sees first hand the knowledge gaps of the many designers
attending these courses. Rob undertakes a significant proportion of the teaching on our Diploma course.

These words from one of our recent graduates echo feedback received by our students over the very
many years we have been teaching our Diploma in Garden Design.
Our Diploma course is taught one day a week over one academic year, beginning each October, and you
can join us at our easily accessible training centres in London or Bristol. We have always maintained a
small class size of 10 students on each course as we believe that is the optimum number for the learning
curve involved, to ensure full support and one to one backup in and out of the classroom for each student.
