Thank you for your interest and welcome to the Pickard School of Garden Design (PSGD). We have been established since 1991 and teach design of the exterior environment at the level of bespoke garden design. Courses are carefully structured to provide a thorough education for those who wish to design at a professional level; they are vocational in content and professional in outlook.
The School is the most successful, and we believe the most professional educator of mature students in the field of garden and landscape design, answering the demand for well structured, vocational courses aimed at mature students. PSGD is one of the longest established, has more locations, and educates more students than any other similar school of professional garden design in Britain.
We offer several different courses at different levels dependant upon experience and need. These are some of the most comprehensive, intensive and enjoyable courses to produce professional garden designers in Britain. The courses we teach include a Diploma in Garden Design with the possibility of progressing to an MA programme which is delivered by Staffordshire University in conjunction with PSGD. PSGD offers a number of other short courses for the professional development of existing designers. These include courses in garden design drawing techniques, in surveying and site assessment, in computer aided design and in business practice for garden designers.
Our programme of courses is structured to provide a thorough training for those who wish to design gardens at a professional level and they provide a sound knowledge of the theory and practice, of garden design, of planting design, the theory of construction, the administration of the construction contract and how to manage a design consultancy for profit. Run in a friendly and informal manner, our aim is to develop the potential of each individual student.
Completion of the PSGD Diploma gives access to a Master of Arts award in conjunction with Staffordshire University. It offers a unique programme of work that brings together professionally qualified garden designers from the Pickard School of Garden Design, with academic expertise from the University.
"We would love to share our skills and enthusiasm with you and do hope that you decide to join us to begin one of the most exciting and rewarding of careers."
