About Us
Welcome to Pickard School of Garden Design.
We are one of the longest established, most professional, creative and forward thinking garden design schools in the UK.
We have schools in both London and Bristol. We are recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society and the Society of Garden Designers, and are registered with the Learning and Skills Council as a training and learning provider.
We teach garden design, not horticulture. We also believe that a thorough understanding of the issues involved in running a business is paramount to the success of a garden design business.
Each of our lecturers is actively involved with their own design practice. They also have backgrounds which span the creative arts, a variety of businesses and marketing. As a result, they have a wealth of skills and practical experience which they are able to pass on to students.
Our emphasis is strongly professional, focusing on students who wish to design gardens and landscapes at a professional level. We also offer a continuous professional development programme (CPD) for practising garden designers. Our courses provide a sound knowledge of the theory and practice of garden design, planting design, construction, project management, and the skills needed to run and promote a design business for profit.
The School’s approach to teaching is friendly and informal; it is important to us that every individual student develops their maximum potential.
